Yogscast Versus Notch

After Minecon, the big story making the rounds was the apparent fallout between Mojang Boss and Minecraft Creator Notch and the Yogscast (the ultra popular youtube channel) crew.

After Notch’s tweets slamming the Yogscast for f-bombing kids, demanding pay and acting like divas, the fandom wars between Team Notch and Team Yogscast was all over the place. While the poor yogscast recuperated from a trans-atlantic flight and the after-effects of over-exposure to kiddie germs the internet was swamped by arguments that dwarfed the usual Twilight/Bieber fanboys/girls perpetual defence of their icons. Even TotalBiscuit waded in defending the yogscast.

The yogscast then having recovered enough energy posted up this video:

And then followed it up with a proper statement

Now the way I see it, Notch royally screwed up, deciding to pick a fight while suffering from the consequences of the deadmau5 party were still pounding his skull. The Yogscast apparently didn’t say anything that Notch claimed they had but as totalbiscuit pointed out some of those things weren’t exactly something you’d bask them for, Like looking to get paid to fly out from the UK to Las Vegas to help Minecon. The Yogscast to be fair were quite gracious in their response, luckily having the benefit of time to craft their response, and took the high ground by not calling Notch out further, but rather just hoping the matter would drop.

Luckily Notch seemed to agree via twitter, and that should be the end of it.

Some people have asked if Notch and the Yogscast we’re just trolling, but realistically, neither of them benefit from turning the two communities against each other and the tweets from Notch went too far to be considered unhurtful.

Hopefully they’re all hug, eat some jaffas and the minecraft world will return to the harmonious way it should be.
